Holy Family School Curriculum
Holy Family School follows the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Math. The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy include literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, Speaking/Listening and Technical subjects. Alongside the Common Core Standards, Holy Family utilizes the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements and the Grade Level Expectations in all subjects. Our Science curriculum is based on the Next Generation Science Standards for Washington State, a set of standards that provide consistent science education through all grades, with an emphasis on engineering and technology. Religion has a new set of standards formulated by the Archdiocese of Seattle. If you would like to see what these standards look like, please continue using the links. We Believe
We Believe Catholic Identity Religious Formation Program develops Catholic beliefs, practices & principles to help K-8 students embody their faith.
Exploring Faith through Art
The Exploring Faith Through Art easel provides teachers with meaningful opportunities to help young learners further explore faith concepts in an age-appropriate manner with hands-on activities. Teachers use captivating art prints, art techniques, and art history as springboards for discussion.
Journeys
Journeys is a comprehensive K-5 English language arts program. It provides an instructional system for reading both literature and informational texts, for acquiring foundational skills, and for developing mastery of speaking, listening and writing.
Engage New York ELA
The New York State curricula include six modules that focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking in response to high-quality texts. Each module is intended to last a quarter of a school year; the addition of two extra modules allows for teacher choice throughout the year.
Into Math
HMH Into Math delivers a learning experience that keeps students engaged in mathematics. The skills students build with HMH Into Math encourage them to grow in their mathematical thinking and practice.
Science Dimensions 5-8
Designed from the ground up to address the Next Generation Science Standards*, HMH Science Dimensions™ puts students in charge of their learning and enables teachers to seamlessly guide their students on this new instructional path. This unique NGSS curriculum means better engagement, deeper understanding, and greater student achievement.
TCI
TCI’s social studies curriculum helps teachers offer interactive, supportive learning environments. With a focus on student-led learning and immersive activities, our middle school social studies curriculum aligns to the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies, and helps prepare students to be engaged and thoughtful citizens as they explore social studies using the Inquiry Arc.
STEM
All of our classes at HFS participate in STEM. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. STEM challenges provide hands-on learning challenges that emphasize collaboration, communication, research, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity, skills that students need to be successful in today's world.
