Current Reopening Plans

Thank you for choosing Holy Family School and working with us with all the changes during the Covid-19.  The latest news regarding the opening of the school in the fall is in the process of shifting to in-person learning.  Pre-K-8 has been in session for in-person learning, however we will be pivoting back to remote learning from November 30, 2020 to January 4, 2021. Please remember plans will evolve depending on safety precautions and health of our community, school families, faculty and staff.

We will be reassessing our plan monthly while keeping in mind the the Covid-19 cases in our county and following health department guidelines.  We are looking forward to reopening for in-person.

Reopening Protocol

  • Classroom Safety: Students and teachers will have distance seating and spacing in their classrooms.  Our classrooms can accommodate our current class sizes with 6 ft distancing.  Expectations and routines will be taught in the classrooms and for moving to and from school areas; such as changing classes, recess procedures and/or other routines.
  • Morning Routine: All families are encouraged to use our drive-through carpool line.  Drop off and pick up plans will be by car only through the back gate and out the gate by the parish hall. Morning drop off:   Cars will drive through the carpool lane and wait for a student temperature check and health questions from a staff member. Any student with symptoms of Covid-19 and/or fever, cough, may not be able to attend school. Healthy students may exit the car and go directly to their classroom.  The gates will be locked shortly after 8:30 am.
  • Late Students: Late students are to be escorted by their parents to the glass doors on 17th street. A faculty member will come to the glass doors and do a temperature check.
  • Dismissal Routine: The car drive through will be similar to our current pick up procedures. Students will be spaced with proper distancing by the yellow curbs.  Grades 5th and 6th will line up by their classrooms. Cars are to drive in through the back gate, follow the carpool route and line up along the school building. Once the cars are stopped the students will enter the cars and exit when all cars are loaded.
  • Recess Plans:  Recess entrance and exits, play areas, will be spaced for safe distancing and in an assigned rotating zone area for play time.
  • Lunch Plans: All students will eat in their classrooms.
  • Cleaning Procedures: Classroom desks, door knobs, light switches will be cleaned throughout the day.  Desks will be cleaned whenever there is a change of students and after eating lunch. Bathrooms will be cleaned throughout the day.
  • Universal Face Covering: Cloth face coverings will be required for staff and students in grades K-8, our Pre-K students will be encouraged to wear face coverings.  Students will be supervised when wearing face coverings. Even with face coverings, proper social distancing will be maintained.  We will have more frequent outdoor breaks, where face coverings will not be mandatory as long as social distancing is maintained.
  • Please do your part to make our teachers, students, and parents safe by doing the following: Make sure that anyone coming to school this fall – children and adults – have at least a few cloth masks that are comfortable and suitable. Practice wearing your masks for extended periods of time in order to become accustomed to wearing them. Ensure that everyone coming to school knows how to properly wash and sanitize their hands and practice doing it. Stay at home when you are sick – whatever your illness. Notify the school right away if you, someone in your home, or someone to whom you have been exposed is diagnosed with COVID-19.

Remote Learning: Remote learning will be provided for students not on campus to continue their learning whether this is due to illness, exposure, or parental choice.  See our Distance Learning Plan for details.  Distance Learning Plan
