Dear Middle School Parents,
Band In the Morning!
Dear Middle school band families (grades 6,7,8). Band will meet Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7:45am to 8:25am. This is an EXTRA class opportunity for middle schoolers. Attendance will be taken and a grade will be issued each trimester, but there is no extra fee for the class! Students will be expected to purchase the Essential Elements 2000 (red) Book 2 for the class.
Band students will also be able to choose between yearbook, advanced PE, art, study hall or be a teacher's assistant during the usual elective time on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Multiple studies have shown that students who study a musical instrument and participate in a band or orchestra have higher test scores in standardized testing and college placement exams.
There are school instruments available to borrow from the school for a $25 maintenance fee, please email Ms. Reitan (
) or call the school as these are first come, first serve. Ted Brown Music will be available to arrange for instrument rentals and to sell the band books THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH right after school until 5pm in the Parish Hall.
Band student families could carpool as a group, siblings could be in morning extended care, the 15 minutes before the 8am drop off could be an excellent time to finish up homework with siblings… there are lots of ways to make Band in the Morning successful.
Band Instrument Loaning Library is growing. If renting an instrument is preventing participation, ask to borrow a school owned instrument. The fee to borrow a school instrument is only $25 for the entire year, which covers repair and maintenance costs. Please email Ms. Reitan if you are interested in a school instrument. Ted Brown Music will be on campus to arrange for rentals and will sell the required band books after school Thursday, September 6th until about 4:30pm.
